1. Belvedere Museum

Prince Eugine of savoy’s summer palace complex sits in a sculpted park.

The Belvedere Museum of contemporary art exists in the structure originally built for the 1985 world expo.

The structure changed and reopened in 2011 to showcase the best of modern Austrian art in the past 70 years.

2. Leopold Museum.

More than 5,000 masterworks of Austrian Modern Art collected by the passionate art lover Dr Rudolf Leopold are displayed in the Leopold Museum at Museumsquatier

There are also collections of artworks by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and more

3. Albertina

Albertina Museum is located in the 1st District of Vienna. It houses more than a million prints and 60,000 drawings including Masterpieces by Schiele, Cézanne, Klimt, Picasso, and others.

The collection was created by Duke Albert of Saxony-Teschen, the son-in-law of Empress Maria Theresa who began collecting the prints and drawings in 1776

4. Kunsthistoriches Museum

This is the Largest art museum in Austria. The domed shape museum of fine art was built in the late 1800s to open the vast imperial collection to the public.

The interior of the Museum was lavishly decorated with Marble Gold leaves and murals.

5. Sisi museum

Sisi is the nickname of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Who was the princess Diana in the 19th Century!

6. Judisches Museum

The Jewish Museum Vienna offers a poignant overview of the History of the Jewish people.

The museum has two buildings, the main venue the Palais Eskeles is the former townhouse of a noble Jewish family.

The Misrachi-Haus on judenplatz documents the social cultural and religious life of Viennese Jews in the Middle Ages

7. Kunsthalle

It began in 1992 in a makeshift container, but now it is an international institution that focuses on modern art and social change.

It produces exhibitions, researches art practices and supports local and international artists

8. MAK (Museum of Applied Art)

MAK is an art and craft Museum besides its traditional orientation towards arts and crafts and design, the museum focuses on architecture and contemporary art,

in 2015 the MAK became the first museum to use bitcoin to acquire artwork. It also has over 300,000 online collections and most are accessible to the public.

9. Bank of Austria Kunstforum

Don’t let the name put you off, the exhibits at the art forum are about post-war avant-garde periods.

10. MUMOK

Also known as Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Vienna is a museum located in the Museumsquartier in Vienna.

The museum has a collection of 10,000 modern and contemporary artworks including major works from Warhol, Picasso, Vostell and Roy Lichtenstein.

The core of the collection comes from the industrialist Peter Ludwig and his wife Irene in 1981

The museum regularly organizes special exhibitions, and it’s known for its large collection of art related to Viennese actionism
