The name translates as “Castle of the court” it was the seat of the Habsburg kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire since then the palace has continued to be the heart of the head of state, and today it serves as the workplace and residence of the president of Austria.

Sisi Museum

The museum shows the restless life of a legendary princess.

On view are her famous portraits, the lavish dress worn by the young bride in the evening before her wedding, 23 pieces of travel toiletries set as well as items from her childhood which include her harp and watercolour painting kit

The Imperial Apartment

Explore the different bedrooms, studies, and living rooms that were home to the Hofburg for over 600 years.

The imperial apartment also contains the official and private chamber of the emperor Franz Joseph and Elisabeth which is now open to the public.

The rooms are an incredible testament and the grandeur of the dynastic Austrian royal family perfectly preserved with their original decor and finishing
