Located in the centre of Vienna is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty known as the Hofburg Palace.
The name translates as “Castle of the court” it was the seat of the Habsburg kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire since then the palace has continued to be the heart of the head of state, and today it serves as the workplace and residence of the president of Austria.
The Public accessible parts of the palace offer insight into the imperial life of the emperor who ruled from 1612 to 1806 and thereafter until 1946 the official residence of the president of Austria.
