On snow is Ukraine’s first male Winter Olympic champion – Oleksandr Abramenko. Proving fourth time’s-a-charm at PyeongChang 2018, he soared to a mesmerizing gold medal in aerials. He is certainly considered one of Ukraine’s pinnacle medal hopes in China.

2018 Olympic champion Oleksandr Abramenko – competing in his 5th Olympic Games – and 2017 Universiade champion Oleksandra Nazarova carried Ukraine’s flag on the Opening Ceremonies of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The world’s exceptional athletes gathered at Beijing’s Bird Nest Stadium and of Ukraine’s greatest led the group into the stadium.

First of all, it is a great honour for me to carry the flag of my country, which i stand for and celebrate at every event.

Oleksandr Abramenko

Oleksandra Nazarova a Ukrainian ice dancer. With her skating partner, Maksym Nikitin, she is the 2015 World Junior bronze medalist and 2012 Youth Olympic silver medalist.

On the senior level, they are the 2017 Winter Universiade champions, 2014 CS Warsaw Cup silver medallists, 2016 Cup of Nice bronze medallists, six-time Ukrainian countrywide champions (2015, 2017, 2018, 2020–2022). Nazorova/Nikitin has represented Ukraine at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
