The 6th, 7th, and 8th Districts in Vienna is referred as the coolest and most Bohemian neighbourhood this is because the streets are filled with antique shops, indies boutiques, galleries, cool cafés and the population is made up of trendy creatives and Students.
Vienna’s diverse 6, 7, and 8th districts are also known as the Mariahilf, Neubau and the Josefstadt respectively.
6th District
Vienna’s 6th district the Mariahilf is quietly trendy with a little more residential buildings than its neigbours. This neighbourhood is full of cultural activities!
Most visitors linger in the Low lit bars till early morning hours, or they visit Mariahilfstrasse, Vienna’s main shopping street packed with high-end brands.

- Mariahilferstrasse: Located here are shopping malls where you can buy all kinds of vain and useful things ranging from Clothes to electronics.
- Naschmarkt: The area between the left and right weinzeile is home to the most famous outdoor market, Naschmarkt. Come for the atmosphere and exotic prices, the prices of goods here tend to be much higher than at other places.
- Otto Wagner haus: moving on along the weinziele, you will soon get to the most attractive buildings in Mariahilfe, the Wienzielenhaus and the Majolica house both designs in art nouveau by Austria favourite architect Ottowagner.

7th District
Vienna’s 7th district is famous for its creative neighbourhood, here are located museums, boutiques, and restaurants and the area is populated by students.

- MuseumsQuartier: The MQ as many call it is a large complex that houses the Kunsthalle, Leopold museum, MUMOK Architekturzentrum and the ZOOM kinder museum.
Modern art lovers will find it easy to a spend at least an entire day here with several cafés, inner courtyard which is great for lounging, gift shops, and you won’t even want to go somewhere else.
2. Spittelberg Quarter: By strolling One block northwest of Maria-Theresien platz offers a fair visual idea of how Vienna was about a century ago. Visitors will also find art galleries and lots of restaurants located here.

8th District
Vienna’s 8th district, Josefstadt is the smallest district in Vienna but what it lacks in size, it makes up in style as one of Vienna’s most architecturally spectacular district. The University of Vienna borders the 8th district, so a lot of students end up staying here.

Getting there
The 6th and 7th districts are best reached on the U4 via pilgrimgasse. You can get to Museumsquartier (Vienna U-Bahn) by Bus, Subway, Train, or Light Rail. Josefstadt is easy to get to via the U6 to Josefstadterstrasse or the U2 to Rathaus.
The cheapest way is by the ordinary railway or “S-Bahn”, you take a train headed for Floridsdorf, which leaves every 30 minutes until you reach the Wien-Mitte station. From there change to the U-Bahn, take the U4 line to Karlsplatz which is right at the end of the Naschmarkt.
NOTE: Weekends are great if you want to saunter around without the shopping crowds, moreover MuseumsQuartier is lively on weekends.
